A Tale of two beaches

Well after i dragged myself out of bed this morning I was rewarded with a pretty damn good day of surfing! First stop Le Braye - was looking big (see pics) and there were a few in, I decided to venture to St Brelaides to see whether the waves were suitable and I was glad I took the chance. Had a great hour and half, went in just after high tide so it quickly dropped off, so me and my buddy decided to head back to St Ouens. After a quick drive back in our wetsuits we hit Le Braye again and had another good hour. Very strong rip kept on taking me left towards La Rocco but some good waves were had.. If its like this for the next few weekends that'd do for me!! Tell me all about your session - good? bad? Indifferent? Longboarding? shredding on your shortboard? Learning to surf even? Fill me in!

The weekend ahead

It's now thursday and most of us will have done most of our work for the week, so of course thoughts naturally turn to the most important question "Whats the surf doing this weekend?" Saturday is looking good according to Magic Seaweed High tide at around 8.30am so could be a resonably early one so no heavy nights on Friday eh?? Ive also been noticing that the nights are gradually getting lighter - which means one thing after work surfs will be the order of day!! Cant wait.. any thought on this weekend - where you gonna be? who you gonna be with and how you gonna be doing it? Short board longboard bodyboard?? Let me know!! and have a good one..

Super Sunday!

Well today was a classic... La Braye looked amazing, although i took the softer option and went to St Brelaides, had the most amazing surf with some of my real good friends. If it wasnt for the 5 mil wetsuits and hoodies I could have sworn it was summer! Did anyone go in at St Ouens? Reports here would be most welcome...

4 stars and counting!

Well its certainly looking like it could be a good day on Magic Seaweed. I was up yesterday and went in at Le Braye, but it was quite big especially for me with my beast of a longboard.. But I gamely battled on caught a few then all of a sudden I was sat in between the biggest sets! I felt like I was in the "Perfect Storm!" I think high tide is mid afternon today and a little birdie tells me St Brelaides may be the place to be today so I'm gonna check it out and hopefully get a few.. If your out today hope you have a good one!

What happened to CI Surf.com ???

What has happened to the CI surf website? Are they setting up a new one? What has happened to all the St Ouens webcams as well?? Answers on a postcard....

That Friday Feeling... On Thursday?

Well Ive finally got a few days off So im looking forward to getting a few days in down the beach - hoping that there will be no one around and great waves (one can but dream eh?) I believe high tide is around the 2 O'clock mark tomorow and Magic Seaweed is giving it four stars but as we all know the only way to really see is to get down there and see for your self... As a matter of interest how many people think that the magic sea weed forcasts dont accurately reflect the conditions here? I know its a computer based prediction so its probably not going to be 100% accurate, but what are your feelings on the predictions? Mostly right or nowhere near the mark? Like I was saying in my first posting here I would like this to be a blog where people contribute so we dont necessarily have to rely on the magic seaweed forecast but get a better more localised view usgin knowledge based on the contributions of others from this blog.... Sound good? Well please contribute!! Pictures taken predictions reports of the weekend/or weeks surf anything and ill post it - tell your friends about this blog - power in number!!!

St Ouens a few weeks ago

video

The Early bird catches the worm... Or not!

To be honest I've gotten a bit lazy this year - I went up to go surfing today and I let the fact that it was cold and windy put me off! As you can see from the pics above there weren't that many in today anyway, but the waves looked ok - especially at Le Braye. I'm off work from next Friday for 5 days so I'm looking forward to at least a few days of having the waves all to myself, just hope its good logriding waves!! If anyone was in this weekend please let me know how you got on and submit pictures and Ill publish your report. Have a great week!!

Retrospective 2007

Here are a few pics from the summer of 2007 to keep you going til next one!

Too Late...

Well I took the gamble and went up later cos of the supposed big tides, and by the time i got up to St Ouens there was nothing there... Bummer.. C'est La vie i guess!! Probably gonna go up tommorow but make sure its a bit sooner....

St Ouens On A Winters Day!

Welcome!

Hi,

This is my first attempt at a Blog. I live in Jersey Channel Islands and I surf regularly, and we have plenty of webcams to see how the surf is at St Ouens (although 2 are down at the moment!) but no other way of gauging how the surf will be elsewhere around the Island. Because its the winter the most unlikely places seem to be great surf spots and so many time have I logged onto www.magicseaweed.com to see pictures of the previous weekend at Rozel and it was completely going off! And I was sat in thinking that the surf was shite in St Ouens so I'll put on a nice film.... So frustrating!! Anyway the poinf of this blog will hopefully to get people who surf from Jersey to interact about where will be good to go surfing that weekend. I know this will take time to build up but if you like the concept tell other people about this site so we can all share the knowledge!! I think I will also try and do reports of where Ive been surfing and post the odd photo. So again if anyone wants to contribute email me at logrider2008@gmail.com and I will add pictures and reports as well!
Off out surfing now - so watch this space for pics and reports later!!
